How to get Crescent Shroom Pickaxe for free

Fortnite’s annual Winterfest was somewhat marred last year with log-in issues and the infamous extra present glitch. To make good on the players, Epic Games has some apologetic bonuses for everyone. We’re getting the Crescent Shroom Pickaxe for free ahead of its Item Shop debut, and a weekend of Power Leveling to make up for the downtime. Here’s everything you need to know.

How to get Crescent Shroom Pickaxe for free

The Crescent Shroom Pickaxe will be offered to every player who logged in during Winterfest. It’s not Winter themed at all, but it’s part of the upcoming Fungus King set that will feature the much anticipated Madcap.

It’ll be offered in the Item Shop for V-Bucks as usual, but players who participated in Winterfest will get it for free early. It’s hard to tell if this is the extra present promised, and it’s likely being given out to entice players to get Madcap himself.

If you were waiting on Madcap and were a regular player, this is great. If not, the Crescent Shroom Pickaxe is generic enough to fit with other skins. The purple and blue will be right at home.

Pickaxe aside, Power Leveling Weekend is back to help you make back some XP you may have missed out on during the downtime. From January 7-10, you’ll be able to get Supercharged XP all weekend long.

This is the perfect opportunity to complete Quests to go further on your Battle Pass, especially if you’ve been eyeing Spider-Man at the final tiers.

The servers were down for some time during the Holidays, likely due to large amounts of traffic from players on break. This has been an issue since Chapter 3 Season 1 launched, as it’s shaping up to be one of the most played seasons in the game’s history.
