Fortnite’s Unreal Editor has had images leaked and it looks complicated

New leaks have unveiled more images from the new Unreal Editor

Fortnite has promised fans for far too long now that a new editor is coming to the game. It’s being made with the Unreal Engine and it’s being dubbed the Unreal Editor. It was supposed to come out at the start of Chapter 4, Season 1 in December but it was delayed to January. While we still don’t have any updates on what’s going on with the new editor, we do know what it’s going to look like.

GMatrixGames on twitter has released several leaked images of the editor. While we’ve seen some videos and such highlighting what you can do in the editor, this is the first real deep dive into what fans can expect from the new service.

Here’s what you can expect from the new editor;

• A news feed upon startup.
• Content browser
• New templates
• Meshes supplied by SketchFab
• PC exclusive (allegedly: via @EDMIRE2k)

The last item isn’t from GMatrixGames so it may just be an educated guess.

The new editor is certainly powerful and consists of a lot of variables that can be adjusted. While this is a thing that many fans were hoping to have in order to make a more immersive creative experience, the problem lies in its accessibility.

As it’s so involved and so meticulous, many creators may be overwhelmed by the sheer complexity of the new engine. This may certainly limit how many fans choose to engage with the creator, but it’ll also allow those with more of a willingness to learn or experience, far greater creative control.

So while the events and games that can be created in this may be fewer, they’ll also be far more impressive. The possibility of not being able to use this, or having limited functions, on a console will certainly be something we keep an eye on and see if that comes to fruition.

There’s a major update coming this week, but if Creative 2.0 doesn’t land by then, then it may not come until Chapter 4, Season 2.
