What’s the best way to combat the Shockwave Hammer in Fortnite

So, those Shockwave Hammers are a pain, huh?

Now, let’s make something clear, I love the Shockwave Hammers. I’m death from above with those things. It’s awesome. But, and I say this with love, I hate them too. If you’re in a hammer duel with somebody, it is the worst. Everyone is hopping around, the camera is whirling, you don’t know which way is up and you end up losing sight of each other eventually.

Or worse, one of those dudes pops up unexpectedly and nails ya. Then it’s a contest of trying to break the cycle of abuse because if they’re skilled enough, they will just keep coming after you with the bounce mechanic and then drop the hammer on you again.

It’s so hard to get away from someone who is dead set on hammering you back to the lobby. So is there something you can do to stop them? Of course there is, as much as people like to complain about things being broken, there are always Pokemon-like advantages with each weapon.

How do you deal with a Fortnite player’s obsession with the Shockwave Hammer?

The best thing to do if you’re dealing with one of those types of players that is just smacking the tar out of everything is to carry a shotgun. Preferably the Maven version. The thing about players with the Shockwave is, they have to get very close to use it.

So if you’re looking for a way to fend guys off as they come after you with the Shockwave Hammer, carry a Maven shotgun, point it dead center, and let it rip. This will keep players at bay and a few shots should strip a player of their shield at the very least.

Then it’s their turn to panic and run.
