Power Guitar weapon may bring rhythm games to Fortnite

Fortnite is bringing in the Power Guitar and it may change up the game.

Fortnite is getting ready to unveil yet another odd weapon to join the loot pool. We already have the Ex-Caliber Rifle and the Shockwave Hammer, and soon enough we’re going to have the Power Guitar. It’ll function like the boom box from seasons gone by, and damage enemies who are in a specific radius.

The unique thing about this weapon as opposed to other ones is that you’ll be able to inflict more damage on people by hitting the right notes through a rhythm mini-game. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s something that is different enough to warrant a slot in the game.

It all depends on execution, if it’s janky, it won’t matter how cool of a gimmick it is. The other issue is Fortnite’s recent track record of not delivering on things like this. Fortnite has developed a bad track record of delaying releases or simply canceling them outright.

So assuming this doesn’t go the way of the skateboards or the Chapter 3, Season 4 planes, then we’ll be getting a wonderful new weapon to rock our opponents into eliminations with.

Fortnite embracing the odd is a great sign

One of the best parts of this season is the uniqueness of the weapons. The game gets too loaded up in the Call of Duty style weaponry, that they often forget that one of the biggest selling points is the variety and uniqueness of weapons in the game.

Fortnite is silly, it’s whacky, it’s a PG version of Saints Row, and it should further embrace that. I long for the day when Fortnite removes all the conventional weapons and forces players to use the Ex-Caliber Rifle and Unstable Goo Guns of the game only.
