Unreal Editor for Fortnite (Fortnite Creative 2.0) has been delayed to the surprise of no one
By Chad Porto
Fortnite fans were very excited about the Unreal Editor for Fortnite but that is now on hold.
When Chapter 4 launches in December, one of the big promises that fans were told to get hyped for was Fortnite Creative 2.0, aka the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). The long-awaited new editor is set to change the entirety of how fans create customizable games in Fortnite, bringing more depth and variety to the game than ever before.
Fortnite will basically become a one-stop-shop for so much content, with some showing off concepts that could include video game giants from across the spectrum, like Pokemon.
To say it’s a huge deal is an understatement. So imagine our surprise when just a day after it was announced that Chapter 4 would launch alongside the UEFN, we found out that the long-awaited UEFN has been delayed until January of 2023, and that’s barring any more unforeseen issues that may delay its release again.
Fortnite is developing a nasty habit of delaying or canceling major updates
Fans of Fortnite will not be without the update for long. It will come, it has to. The update is too important for the game and the fans, as it represents a huge change to the status quo. Not only that, but the company saw gobs of money put into it, and not launching it would mean (probably) hundreds of millions of dollars wasted.
It’ll come out.
That said, this isn’t new for Fortnite in recent months. We’ve seen item after item, event after event, and promise after promise either limited, delayed, or quietly canceled with little to no real explanation.
Skateboarding, planes, a “free” outfit that you had to get by pimping out your friends. Fortnite has been pretty scummy when it comes to the treatment of its player base in 2022 and this delay is just another example of Fortnite not delivering on its promises as of late.
In a vacuum, this isn’t a big deal. Yet, stacked up against all of the other stuff we’ve seen get delayed for whatever reason as of late, it’s just par for the course.
