The lightsabers were a game-breaking weapon and need to be vaulted for good

Fortnite needs to avoid bringing back the lightsabers for any future installments
We get it, ok, Fortnite? You like Star Wars. The gaming giant is constantly trying to infuse more and more Star Wars into the brand, and it’s just becoming too much. Every few weeks or so it seems like we’re getting yet another Star Wars crossover. It’s a bit much.
Made worse by the fact that the game is constantly bringing in the lightsabers nearly every time it does. Now that wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world but considering the melee weapons inflict huge amounts of damage while you’re fulfilling the combo, it’s pretty hard to counter.
Moreover, the lightsaber allows players to block shots heading at them. So unless you’re spraying and praying, you’re more likely not even going to be able to wound them while they walk you down. If you could shoot past their defenses easier, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, but once they got their hands on you, a combo to completion would usually be enough to get the elimination.
And heaven forbid you should try running from them as they stalk you, as the range on these little light sticks is so incredibly long that you’ll likely still take damage.
Fortnite needs to fix the lightsabers before bringing them back or introducing melee weapons to the game
Melee weapons should not be more effective than a Chrome Shotgun at close range, yet that’s exactly what those lightsabers were able to be. Melee weapons should be used for encounters with other melee characters, or as a way to damage enemies after sneaking up on them.
Being able to deflect shots and then pull off a 200-point damage combo is a bit insane. I get that Fortnite wants the lightsabers to be super impactful so fans use them, but they’re game-breakers.
Fortnite needs to lower the damage output if you want fans to actually stick around for when the game brings in melee weapons into Battle Royale.
