3 Marvel characters we would rather have than X-23 in Fortnite
By Chad Porto
X-23 is in the Fortnite store now but did Marvel really need to go with such a middling character?
Fortnite has a history of bringing in Marvel characters. I wouldn’t be surprised if Epic Games and Fortnite as a whole were just a shell company for Disney. The house of mouse has got to find a way to save money somehow, right? That’s the only real explanation for the company deciding to drown fans in a sea of mid-characters.
Enter, X-23, a character that is such a carbon copy of Wolverine, that they literally gave her the same exact backstory. Down to memory loss issues, experimentation and even taking Wolverine’s name as her own.
It was clearly done by Marvel to try and find a way to make the character more on-brand so that when Hugh Jackman retired they could insert the character into the MCU as her replacement. That said, it didn’t quite work. Bolstering a mid-character like X-23 isn’t new in that respect. Iron Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel and Iron Heart, and others were all C-tier comic characters before the MCU.
So it makes sense that Marvel is pushing for X-23 to get a bigger platform. That said, they could’ve done a heck of a lot better.
Three Marvel characters we would have rather seen than X-23 in Fortnite
Hercules
Considering his arrival at the end of the latest Thor film, it would’ve made all the sense in the world to bring in Hercules. He’s played by a very popular actor in Brett Goldstein, who’s making waves with his role in Ted Lasso as Roy Kent. The arrival would’ve been well received.
Miles Morales
Considering the involvement with Peter Parker (various versions) and now Spider-Gwen, it makes too much sense to not bring in Miles Morales eventually.
Black Cat
Just her classic design alone is reason enough for her to come into Fortnite. Her fit with the Spider-Verse cast of characters doesn’t hurt either.
