Melee weapons may be returning to Fortnite for Chapter 3, Season 4

Fortnite is a game that allows you to do just about anything you want to eliminate an opponent. You can set a trap for them using the environment, trap them in a burning building, run them over with a car, drop things on them; the works. Oh, and you can shoot them too if you want.

One thing that Fortnite isn’t known for is the use of melee weapons to eliminate opponents. Yes, there have been some, like Death’s scythe, Darth Vader’s light saber, and the like, but typically it’s just your pickaxe.

Fortnite simply isn’t known for its melee weapon use. That may change if the rumors of new melee weapons being brought into Battle Royale are true. Right now fans can get their hands on swords and hammers in creative mode to not only destroy structures but one another should you be so inclined.

Could those come to the base game? Probably but are those the only weapons we want to see?

Vampire Hunter Whip

Now, this may harken to a certain iconic video game weapon, but no, mostly this is just a long-range version of a melee weapon. I’d imagine it’d work similarly to the harpoon gun, and if you’re really going to go all out for melee weapons, you need a variety of ranges. So consider this the long-range version.

Atlantis Trident

If the whip is the long-range, here’s your mid-range weapon. It can work in close quarters, doing big damage on the initial jab before then doing lesser damage in a combo.

Big Swing Baseball Bat

Lastly, is your short-range attack. The baseball bat. Like with the trident, it can have a single-use big attack or a multi-use combo attack for lesser damage per strike.
