Rumor: Lord of the Rings prequel is coming to Fortnite

Fortnite is going all out with their crossovers to close out Season 3.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3 is coming to an end, and instead of making sure the game is constantly updated throughout the season so that players don’t dip out throughout the summer, the folks at Fortnite and Epic Games have decided to leave all the great things for the end of the season.

Dragon Ball and Destiny 2 both came to the game, bringing with them seven unique new costumes to purchase, as well as a host of new mythics and cosmetics to earn. Well, that’s not the only thing coming to Fornite, apparently, as the Lords of Ring prequel, the Rings of Power will also be coming to the game, though likely to start Season 3.

On the southeast side of the island, you can find the Rock Family chilling. Near them is a castle in the sand that looks similar to Helm’s Deep from the Lord of the Ring film.

Leaks from earlier in the year showed Doom, Family Guy, Lord of the Rings, and Destiny, many thought that they weren’t going to happen, especially with Family Guy not getting added. Yet, Destiny was in fact added to the game, giving this rumor credence.

A new Lord of the Ring series is in the works

Lord of the Rings is getting a prequel series called The Rings of Power, which will stream on Sept. 2, 2022, via Amazon Prime video. Considering Fortnite’s historic propensity to partner with new, hot properties, this seems like a very realistic crossover for the brand to engage in.

It also gives hope for the Doom and Family Guy costumes eventually being added to the game. Doom hasn’t gotten the same attention as Family Guy as far as leaks fans have been hoping but it shouldn’t be overlooked, as if it’s released, fans will certainly go out to get Doom Guy.
