For real, this time: The bizarre history of the Machine Pistol
By Andrew Lin
The Machine Pistol is a new weapon introduced in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 that has a surprisingly long legacy in the game. This new weapon has actually been in the game since Chapter 1, so let’s take a look at the bizarre history of the Machine Pistol.
For real, this time: The bizarre history of the Machine Pistol
Chapter 1
The Machine Pistol was first added to the game’s files in Season 7. The build was complete and functioning, but was not usable until it was accidentally added to the Solid Gold LTM in Season X. Despite appearing in Solid Gold, the accidental Machine Pistol was Common. It was pulled quickly after it was discovered.
Chapter 2
In Chapter 2, the Machine Pistol was accidentally released in the Unvaulted LTM, both in C2S5 and C2S8 in all rarities. Somehow, the weapon was considered “vaulted” despite never being officially released and therefore never removed.
It’s also been portrayed in a few promotional images around this time despite not being officially released yet, most notably in a Creative screen.
Chapter 3
Creative saw the Machine Pistol briefly on two occasions. It was available for one day when C3S1 launched before being removed, and then again in mid-January for v19.10. Notably this Machine Pistol featured some adjustments from previous builds of the weapon. Our next look at the Machine Pistol would be in the background of the Pizza Party video.
Now in v19.20, the Machine Pistol has been added to the Battle Royale and Creative loot pool. For real, this time. The current build of the Machine Pistol has some slightly modified stats since the beginning of Chapter 3.
Between first appearing in the game’s files and its proper appearance in C3S1, the Machine Pistol was in limbo for about three years over 11 Seasons. Now that the Machine Pistol has been unleashed, you can start melting enemies who get too close to you.
