Lil Nas X has been killing it recently, releasing banger after banger paired with provocative and profound music videos. With his success on a meteoric rise, it’s only a matter of time before people want to see him in our favorite game Fortnite. Concept artist D3NNI has us covered with a great concept of a Lil Nas X Fortnite skin that elicited a response from Montero himself.

The concept shows  what an Icon Series skin would look like for Lil Nas X, with two styles: Industry Baby modeled after his appearance in the eponymous video, and Inferno, based on the look he had for a live performance of Montero.

The Industry Baby style in particular has some easter eggs, with Fortnite references adorning his body as tattoos. Meowscles, the SHADOW icon, The Butterfly and Lexa can be spotted in the concept.

The Inferno style is straight out of the Saturday Night Live performance of Montero, where Lil Nas X made the best out of an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.

D3NNI’s concepts have made been used before, serving as the inspiration for the well received Oakwitch Set’s Isabelle. It’s not unheard of for concept artists to have multiple ideas brought to life in Fortnite, and Epic Games seems willing to include them across different product lines like Fortnite Crew.

Lil Nas X has never been one to shy away from the social media scene, often replying to fans and critics directly. Montero went one step further, sharing the concept on his story.

Reception to the skin concept was extremely positive, but Lil Nas X’s own succinct response made the crowd go wild. We didn’t know we wanted it, but now we do.

Travis Scott may be Fortnite’s poster child when it comes to music crossovers, but I think Lil Nas X can give that concert a run for its money. He’s become an icon of positivity and self love, and conveniently he’s a chart topping artist. Epic Games, make it happen.
