Fortnite Battle Royale: The rocket in the enemy lair is set for launch Tuesday
By Ben Sundock
Fortnite: Battle Royale never seems to disappoint fans when it comes to new and interesting ways to shake up the incredible game. With the ‘4.4 Content Update’ set to be released at 4 AM Eastern on Tuesday, players will have the ability to shoot a giant rocket from a villain’s base? You bet.
The Fortnite datamining guys, aka @TwoEpicBuddies on Twitter, have once again tip fans of what Epic Games is planning to add into the news content update this week. Last week, they were all over the news of the Thermal Scoped AR coming out, and now they have discovered another interesting tidbit that Epic Games will be adding.
According to their findings deep in the developer files, the rocket which is located in the villain’s lair in the mountain above Snobby Shores will be launched onto the map by whichever player can arrive to it first.
While the details of what exactly is to come are hazy, it is clear through some research that something involving the rocket is going to change the map and or the way the game is played. Over the weekend, the TV’s in several of the houses on the map began broadcasting a weird logo that looks like a skull.
Looking closely at the picture, it resembles the outside of the villain’s base in the side of the mountain. Plus, the countdown shown on some of the televisions in the Nintendo Switch version of the game indicates that the timer runs out at the time the update is set to be released.
Looking at all this information and the leaks people have discovered, I don’t even have a reasonable guess for what the rocket in the game could mean. Is it going to be a weapon players can use to shoot at opponents anywhere on the map?
Will it be a first come first serve type of map interaction? Or will it be earned through getting a certain amount of kills or by using a token you pick up?
Seriously, I have no clue what to expect. I am hopeful that this is not a groundbreaking change to the game like the guided missile or the jetpack. If you can shoot a rocket somewhere on the map and take out five to eight players with a huge rocket coming from the sky, I will be pretty angry.
