Sonic the Hedgehog would be one of the worst crossover additions ever
By Chad Porto
Sonic the Hedgehog may never be more popular than he is right now but Fortnite can’t bring him in.
Who would have thought that in 2022, Sonic the Hedgehog would be the pop culture character that he is? He has had two successful films, that are beloved by fans. He’s got a brand new game that’s coming out called Sonic Frontiers which may prove to be the most impressive and dynamic Sonic game of all time.
Designed in the same vein as more recent Mario games, or more akin to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the game puts Sonic in an open-world setting, and fans of all ages are getting geeked for it. Usually, when a new Sonic game comes out there’s worry and trepidation.
After all, a lot of Sonic games don’t really live up to the initial hype. Some do, and it seems like Frontiers has a very good shot at being that type of game.
Beyond that, there are even two animated series in the works. One about Sonic called Sonic Prime, and one about Knuckles. Both are set for Netflix and Sonic Prime is expected out in December of 2022.
That said, with how popular the blue blur is, he doesn’t fit in Fortnite.
Sonic the Hedgehog doesn’t fit in Fortnite
Sonic does not fit in Fortnite, as a character model. It would be far too hard to make Sonic fit as a Fortnite character. It comes down to his character model and how hard it’ll be to adapt to it. Much like the issues fans had playing with Goku and Vegeta, the size of Sonic’s head and his quills would end up being a huge detriment to players.
Fortnite had to shrink Vegeta’s head close up’s just so players could see clearly. Sonic would have that same problem and frankly, there’s just no reason to deal with all that.
Now, should Sonic be a backbling of some kind, that’s a different story entirely.
