Everything you need to know about the Dragon Ball X Fortnite crossover
By Chad Porto
The long-awaited Dragon Ball X Fortnite crossover is here.
Fortnite fans have long wanted Dragon Ball in Fortnite and now that’s a reality with the Dragon Ball X Fortnite crossover. The event is bringing in more than just four new costumes into the store for fans to purchase. The whole island is being dipped into those magical waters that make up the Dragon Ball empire.
Players can not only purchase the four characters of Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and Beerus in the Fortnite store but they can now participate in the Power Unleashed in-game quests. The mini-event is open to all players and you’re automatically enrolled in them once you start playing. As you complete the Dragon Ball quests in Battle Royale, you’ll receive various items like the Dragon Radar Back Bling, various emotes, sprays, and more.
Complete all seven levels and you’ll get the Shenron Glider for free. Get started now, as you’ll only have until Aug. 30 at 4 am to complete the quests.
That’s not all, as the Bounty Boards have been replaced by Versus Boards. Activate the board like you would a bounty and you’ll be paired with a nearby player. If they accept the challenge, the two of you will then be highlighted and you’ll be able to challenge one another. Be warned, I’ve personally experienced glitches with this where the player doesn’t appear on the map.
What else is in Fortnite thanks to Dragon Ball?
Two new mythics are in the game in the form of the Kamehameha and Nimbus Cloud items. The Kamehameha is an energy blast that can deal a lot of damage, while the Nimbus Cloud launches you into the air to escape or surprise enemies.
Bulma is also in the game as an NPC, she’s at the Kame House just east of the Foundation statue. She sells both mythics if you talk to her, while also giving you some bandages for free.
If Battle Royale isn’t your jam at the moment, select Dragon Ball Super episodes are available to watch in Discover, over at the Dragon Ball Super Episode Festival.
On Aug. 19, fans can start collecting Dragon Balls themselves, which will be done by achieving in-game challenges. There will also be an open player-vs-player battle arena called “Tenkaichi Budokai” in which you can challenge others in.
That leads us to the Tournament of Power, a new Battle Royale Duos tournament starting on Aug. 18. Achieving success in the tournament will get you things like the Angry Vegeta Emoticon (Top 50% on Main Leaderboard), Goku’s Kanji Banner Icon (8 points on the main leaderboard), and the Beerus Eating Spray (3 points earned from eliminations via a Kamehameha)
