Did Fortnite cancel the skating mechanic they were planning to bring to No Sweat Summer?

Fortnite’s No Sweat Summer stylistically may be the most visually stunning in the game’s history. The colors, vibe, and feel of the newest event is among the best to ever be produced. That doesn’t mean it’s the best in execution or content, however. The weapon selection has been weak, the new additions to the map are lacking and the big addition to the game’s mechanics; skating, has been stifled.

Not just that, but the entire mechanic may be nerfed completely. According to Top5Gaming, who cited Twitter HYPEX, the game developers have apparently canceled the skating addition to the game. This despite releasing a skate park in the middle of the ocean to use.

Now, it should be noted that HYPEX’s tweet citing the cancellation no longer exists and may have been deleted due to them finding new information that disputes the claims that the mechanic has been outright canceled.

Even if the skating mechanic isn’t canceled, No Sweat Summer started with a dud

There’s a good chance that the New Sweat Summer event does bring in rollerskating and skateboarding for fans to use. That’s very possible. That said, the event and chapter at large have largely been disappointing to me and others.

The hope of skating was a huge aspect of the season that made many fans super excited, but to not get it in any way shape, or form at the start of the event, an event that itself was delayed, was heartbreaking.

No Sweat Summer was supposed to be this big, fun event that would bridge the two halves of the ludicrously long Chapter 3, Season 3, and while it’s added some interesting things, none of it is making me or others stick around to play any more than we have, and player fall off seems to be on the rise, just by looking at the free gimmicks Fortnite is relying on.

Most notably the refer-a-friend gimmick they’re doing now.

No Sweat Summer may stick the landing but right now the game fell on their face just doing the simplest of tricks.
