The new Pac-Man set for Fortnite is here, but it still feels like a letdown

The new Pac-Man set for Fortnite is officially here but it still feels lackluster.

Fortnite fans got a crossover that few saw coming, a massive crossover with the Bandai NAMCO brand video game Pac-Man. He is an icon in the world of video games, up there with the likes of Mario, Sonic, and of course, Fortnite. Yet, Pac-Man isn’t in vogue like it once was, despite games like Pac-Man 99 being very popular.

Now Pac-Man is in the world of Fortnite, thanks to a cross-promotion deal with Bandai NAMCO. For 1,000 V-Bucks ($7.99 USD), you can now buy the Pac-Man Set in the store’s item shop.

The set comes with the standard Back Bling, sold on its own for 500 V-Bucks, which will allow you to put the classic character on your back. The character will react to how you move, moving to face whichever direction your in-game avatar goes. He’ll also pixelate when taking damage or landing from a fall.

If the golden hero isn’t your style, you can also switch to the members of the Ghost Gang, Blinky Inky Clyde and Pinky. Like with Pac-Man, these character Back Blings will react to your actions, moving in the same direction you’re going, while also pixelating when you land. Things get changed up, however, when you take damage, they’ll turn blue, just like they do in the game.

If you’re playing multi-man games, and get knocked Down But Not Out, they’ll revert to their ghostly eyes, just as you’ll see them do in the classic video game.

Pac-Man crossover missed a chance to include in-game character outfits

Fortnite is always known for its outlandish outfits and designs, and to not bring in the iconic character crew as playable characters is a total missed opportunity.

Which the popularity of guys like Peely, there’s no reason to think the game costumes wouldn’t have been huge sellers.
