Pac-Man is coming to Fortnite!
Rumors had persisted for a few days about a potential crossover between Pac-Man and the world of Fortnite, a crossover that seemed too good, or too wild, to actually happen. Yet, thanks to a recent tweet from the official Pac-Man Twitter account, we now know that the rumors are true and Pac-Man will be coming to the world of Fortnite.
Now, unfortunately, this doesn’t mean that Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and the Ghost Gang’s Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde are going to be playable characters in the upcoming season of Fortnite. No, the game will simply have Pac-Man-themed cosmetics.
According to the official Twitter account, the cosmetics will be available in the Fortnite Item Shop starting on June 2, 2022. A “follow-up” report is alluded to in the tweet, leading some to believe that we’ll get some sort of announcement or set reveal from Epic itself before the release is official.
Apparently, the Japanese Pac-Man website is doubling down on the notion that this will be purely cosmetic purposes only and no character outfits will be available, at least according to Fortnite News. It’s unclear what cosmetics will be used, but it’s a good bet that Pac-Man and the Ghost Gang will all be represented to some degree.
Hopefully, the developers change their mind on the character designs for the game, as a Pac-Mana and Ghost Gang designed skin would be hilarious and totally out of place in the game. Raising the level of absurdity that the costume would provide.
An arena would be interesting as well, as players could run a Pac-Man maze, not too dissimilar from the hedge maze in the game currently, near the north-western part of the map.
Only time will tell what we’ll be getting from the franchise and Fortnite, but hopefully, it’s everything we could imagine.
