If you want The Foundation and his suite of accessories in Fortnite Chapter 3, you’ll need to go on a journey with your favorite NPC to complete one of his Challenges. Here’s how to hire a character and travel 1,000 meters with them in Fortnite.
How to hire a character in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1: The Foundation Quests
Hiring a character is a fun mechanic that’s been in the game for some time now. To hire one, approach an NPC and see if they have the option to hire them. Pay them some bars, and they’ll act as your personal bodyguard.
Not all NPCs can be hired. The easiest one to seek out is Lt. John Llama at Llama Homestead.
While they’re with you, they’ll keep an eye out on the surrounding area and fire at enemies that they spot. It’s a good way to get some more information, as the AI partner will typically engage an enemy before you can spot them.
To complete the Quest, you just have to walk 1,000 meters with the hired character. It seems that you’ll have to travel with the same character for it to count, but 1,000 meters isn’t as far as it sounds. If you hire the character as soon as you land and stay out of trouble, you should have no problems.
The difficulty comes when you get into a fight, as your hired gun will attack the enemy relentlessly. If your hired character falls, you might have to go again.
Once you’ve finished your journey, you’ll unlock The Foundation’s weapon wrap, the Foundational.
Notably, this is the only The Foundation Quest that doesn’t involve damaging enemies, and is more difficult when you get into fights.
If you’re lucky, you may find Agent Jones when you land at a Seven Outpost for the Rocket Wing Glider Quest. In this case, you can actually hire him and then try to hide out until top 10 to complete both Quests.
