Fortnite added a slide mechanic and it’s made the game so much more fun.

Fortnite added the new slide mechanic for Chapter 3 and it’s been a blast to use. The mechanic allows the player to slide across any surface (save for water) just by holding down the right analog controller on your controller. At least that’s how it works for the Nintendo Switch.

The addition of the mechanic doesn’t just stop to help you slide down mountains better, it’s also functional when attacking other players. You can even slide and then bring up a scoped weapon if you want.

The addition has complicated the gameplay in a good way. Now you have to be on your toes at all times, as you never know when a player may slide out of a doorway and into a firefight with you.

Three things the slide mechanic brings to the game.

Allows for quicker escapes

If you’re surprised by an opponent in the Battle Royale mode, the slide mechanic is going to be a godsend for you. You’ll be able to slide behind some cover for one. Another is the fact it reduces the size of your character, making it a bit harder for people to hit you since you’ve reduced your player’s heights. It also allows you to slide into cars and make speedy getaways.

Allows you to move faster from storms without vehicles

Most players have had a few encounters where the storm snuck up on them because they weren’t paying attention. If you find yourself in that situation, the slide mechanic may help you get away from it. The slide feature allows a player to move faster than he normally does, especially downhill. So the next time you’re heading down from the storm try hitting the slide mechanic and see if you can’t speed away from it.

Unique angles for attack

This one is obvious and my new favorite thing to do. Load up a shotgun or pistol and slide at your opponents who are trying to shoot you. More than likely they won’t be expecting it and you can rain down some bullets on them as you slide your way to getting another elimination.
