MK-Seven nerf: The first weapon hotfix of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 is here

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 just got its first wave of weapon adjustments. The new pool of weapons brought a fresh feel to the game, but it was obvious some weapons were too good and some underperformed. Most notably, the first MK-Seven nerf is already here. Let’s take a look at what was adjusted.

MK-Seven nerf: The first weapon hotfix of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 is here

The Striker Pump Shotgun wasn’t nearly as versatile as the classic weapon it shares its name with. It fired slow, and was rather inaccurate. These aspects were fixed, and should give the Striker Pump more of an identity compared to the Auto Shotgun. Speaking of, the Auto Shotgun is now faster to pull out, enabling more versatility in close range encounters.

The underperformance of the two Shotguns made me value the Pistol for close range, but I’ll need to do more testing to see if these buffs make them more reliable.

The Ranger Assault Rifle is one of the losers this Season, especially when compared to the amazing MK-Seven Assault Rifle. This hotfix increases its accuracy and damage. This still doesn’t make it better than the MK-Seven, which suffered a nerf this time.

Right when I first used the MK-Seven Assault Rifle, I could feel that this weapon was overpowered. From its laser sight accuracy to its high damage output, this was far and away the weapon I always wanted to get my hands on. This hotfix nerfs it slightly by lowering its hipfire accuracy and its environmental damage. Is this enough?

I don’t think so. It now has a harder time ripping through cover, but I think the MK-Seven’s biggest strength lies in its accuracy and ability to make decisive eliminations. It has some recoil, but it’s pretty tame compared last Season’s Combat Assault Rifle that was almost useless because of it.

The weapon that kills me most is the MK-Seven. Usually, it’s an Uncommon one. It’s an amazing weapon that I love using, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of nerfs for it.
