Fortnite Crew tries something new with The Burning Wolf
By Andrew Lin
Fortnite Crew has been a bit unfocused. On one hand, it’s a subscription service meant to give players exclusive rewards and some spending money in the Item Shop. They’ve tried some gimmicks, like giving players bonuses like access to Save the World and even Spotify in the past. The latest Fortnite Crew announcement bring a new paradigm, starting with The Burning Wolf.

The exclusive skins for Fortnite Crew have been all over the place, as well. They don’t follow a theme, as we’ve had riffs on classics skins and some licensed ones as well. The upcoming Burning Wolf skin has been announced to have lore significance, and the following two months will follow suit.
The next three Fortnite Crew skins will be the first of Midas’s agents. This is the first time the Crew exclusive skins will have continuity with themselves and a direct relation to the story.
To make the deal extra enticing, having all three of them (that is, subscribing for three months) will get you a new style for all three of them. We even get a first look at all three of The First Shadows with what looks like a loading screen.
The Burning Wolf itself doesn’t really seem to match much of the aesthetic that’s been established in Chapter 2 Season 2’s Agents theme. Chaos Origins could be an earlier incarnation fo the Chaos Agent, and Sierra looks fairly generic. I’m not sure what ties they have to Midas, or if it was an afterthought to unify these three seemingly disparate skins.
Epic Games promises more lore to come for The Burning Wolf, so I have high hopes they’ll integrate The First Shadows into the existing story.
My bet for that extra style? Gold, just like the bonus styles for the Agents in Chapter 2 Season 2. Midas is known to bless his closest followers with his golden touch.
