Season 7 is finally here, and things are going to get weird. An alien invasion, new weapons and new locales can be pretty overwhelming, especially if you’re coming back to the game after an absence. Here are seven of my best tips and tricks to get you started.

7 Tips you need to know for Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7

1- Exploration

This season’s map isn’t much different from last season, but some locations have had makeovers both in appearance and in name. You’ll want to explore these locations to fill out your map as soon as you can.
If you’re having trouble unlocking some of the unmarked locations, you’ll need to enter the “Dish” landmarks to trigger the map filling out. Look for the large red light near some satellite dishes for these IO outposts.

2- Vending machines

New vending machines can supply you with quick loot, if you have the bars. Look for the bars icon on your map/screen. What you get out of the vending machine will be noted on the machine itself, with weapons and curatives on offer.

3- Battle Pass, at your leisure

C2S7’s Battle Pass brings back the stars system, letting you earn and spend stars for the rewards you want. You’ll need to clear all rewards on some pages to unlock some of the skins. Now, you can rock some of the cool cosmetics sooner or grab a boost to V-Bucks if you spot something in the shop.

4- Close encounters

UFOs have laid siege to the island. When you look at your map, the POIs that have glitchy, purple text will be under attack. These change every match, so watch out for open ground if you find yourself here. The UFOs are extremely powerful, but not invincible. Take one down and you’ll be able to pilot one yourself.

5- Nuts ‘n’ Bolts

Crafting is back, but with a twist. Nuts ‘n’ Bolts are the only crafting material on the island this time around, and you use it to sidegrade weapons into ones you wouldn’t be able to find in Chests. With Nuts ‘n’ Bolts, you can sidegrade the Heavy or regular Assault Rifle into the killer Burst Assault Rifle, the Suppressed or regular SMG into the (also killer) Rapid Fire SMG and either the Pump or Tactical Shotgun into the Lever Action Shotgun.

6- Past primal

The Invasion is here, but the Primal forces of the island still yet thrive. Wildlife roams the island, so watch out for the wolf pack or boars. As if the alien invasion wasn’t enough to worry about.

7- Tactical Espionage Action

One of the new weapons, the Recon Scanner, uses rockets to fire a tracking pulse that marks enemies. It also deals a surprising amount of damage, hitting for 98 on a hit. You’ll still be marking enemies all around you, so it could be a good way to multitask.

In squads, you can even ride the missile like you could with the Rocket Launcher.
