Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 may be Primal, but it could just as well be the pro sports season. Hot on the heels of

Neymar Jr’s fantastic Battle Pass

outfit reveal, we’ve finally got the Fortnite NBA crossover Epic Games hinted at earlier in the season.

Fortnite NBA Crossover is a slam dunk

There had been sports themed item shop sets to commemorate various big game events, but we haven’t had the sports crossovers to the degree that we’re seeing in C2S6. The Fortnite NBA crossover follows a similar formula to the NFL crossover we got back in February for the Super Bowl. The NBA outfits don’t represent anyone in particular, as the jersey numbers don’t correspond to any player. They do allow you to choose and rep any of the 30 teams in the NBA by putting yourself (or however you wish to present yourself) in the game.

This is part of Fortnite’s strive to offer self expression in the game. According to a statement by Epic Games, “Basketball as a sport is all about self-expression (jerseys, sleeves, braces) – this lines up perfectly with what Fortnite is always striving to offer its players, and the new Outfits which will offer a high level of personalization”.

It also speaks to the point of locker bundles, where celebrities showcase what they ‘wear’ when they allegedly play Fortnite. This time, we get locker bundles for Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks.

The NBA skins aren’t in the shop until May 21, but we have a little sneak peak thanks to leaker FireMonkey.

The method here is just like the (rather controversial) superhero set. You pick one of 10 base character models and then select on of the 30 NBA teams as a style. The models themselves are fairly generic, but that’s a pretty good thing. Let your imagination go and put yourself into the game!
