Dire Fortnite Found in Chapter 2 Season 6 Teaser: Lore Theory
By Andrew Lin
Dire Fortnite was the final skin in the Chapter 1 Season 6 Battle Pass. It’s made a surprise return in a new Reality Log teasing Chapter 2 Season 6.
The first teaser for Chapter 2 Season 6 has a distraught Jonesy steel his resolve to do something about the Zero Point when the Imagined Order won’t. Story details were sparse, but we saw something pretty interesting in the visuals that accompanied the Reality Log.
Dire Fortnite Found in Chapter 2 Season 6 Teaser
There are close ups of a wolf-like character, who is believed to be Dire from the original Season 6. Dire is a variant of Jonesy that was awarded for completing that Season’s Battle Pass, so there’s no way to get it now.
Back in Season 6, there were different styles that could be earned for Dire by completing various challenges. Human Dire looks like Jonesy, and there were styles for his turn as Half-Wolf and Full Werewolf, along with a few color variations.
What does this mean for the new season? Jonesy seems to be going rogue, and he’s a central character for the lore of the Zero Point and Loop. Bunker Jonesy is a character that’s still present on the island, and he’s able to retain his memories despite The Loop. If you go to Bunker Jonesy right now, he’ll start the conversation by saying he warned you.
With three variations on Jonesy present right now, could this mean an Agent John Jones skin for the new Battle Pass? Is Dire coming back? Will this be a full Jonesy themed Battle Pass?
My prediction is that Jonesy will enter the Zero Point, and all of the different versions of him will appear again. This destabilized Zero Point will further bring things back from Chapter 1, and I’m excited to see where this goes.
We won’t have to wait too long for answers, as Chapter 2 Season 6 is set to launch March 16 with a single player event, Zero Point Crisis, that will be the conclusion of the Agent Jones’ mission. Epic Games promises that this will also have the most ambitious story cinematic in the game to date, so the hype is real.
