Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 1 Battle Pass Trailer ***SPOILER ALERT***
24 hours have passed since Fortnite Battle Royale went dark yesterday. The gaming world has gone completely mad wondering if and when Fortnite would be back. We now have a glimpse into the Fortnite future, and it is beautiful.
The Fortnite community was left stunned yesterday when the much hyped and promoted live event and rocket launch ended with all players being sucked into a black hole. There has been no change over the last 24 hours as die-hard fans have had nothing to do but stare at a black hole that once was Fortnite.
Fortunately today, there has been a glimmer of hope. Although we still have no idea when Fortnite will be back online and playable, the Chapter 2 Season 1 Battle Pass trailer has been released this afternoon. This is what we have all been patiently waiting for all day.
The new chapter of Fortnite appears to have a water/beachy theme to it. From the trailer, we can see the introduction of swimming and fishing. Also, players will have a new mode of transportation, boats. These aren’t just any boats either. These multi-passenger boats appear to have mounted guns to eliminate enemies in style.
Other new aspects of gameplay seem to be the ability to carry a knocked teammate. Before, a downed partner could crawl to get cover, but never could another player pick up a wounded player and take him/her away to safety.
There are new ways to level up your Battle Pass in Chapter 2, Season 1 also. You can earn Battle Medal upgrades with eliminations, Scavenger Medal upgrades by opening chests, and finally Survivor Medal upgrades by harvesting resources such as trees. This is a brand new and very interesting concept.

A new ability to hide also appears to have been added to the game. A player can be seen jumping out of a trash dumpster with a surprise attack in the trailer. This is a new mechanic never before seen in Fortnite.

There is a lighthouse, a very large dam, the ability to drive straight into water without the use of your glider, functioning llama pogo sticks, squad emotes, new mountains, the return of ziplines, a healing weapon that may throw bandages to teammates, crazy new POIs, tons of new skins, and over 100 rewards!

Needless to say, there will be a new map in Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 1. We will not know if any of the old POIs will return on the new map. That remains to be seen.
As of now, we still do not have a time when the new, shiny version of Fortnite will go live. Many are speculating tomorrow morning, Tuesday, October 15, but that is just a guess.
Epic Games deserves credit where credit is due. This entire event has to be the best “troll” in the history of video games. They think outside the box constantly, and always introduce new ways to promote their brand. Kudos to Epic for making us all crazy while we stare at a black hole and now dream of beauty/water-themed fun.
Until we meet on the beachy battle field…
