Will Changes to the B.R.U.T.E Help the Problem?
By Ethan Smith
Fortnite’s v10.10 patch brought some changes to the B.R.U.T.E and while many still want the overpowered mech out of the game, the changes could at least put a bandage on the problem until Fortnite ultimately vaults the mech entirely. With that said, do the changes really help the problem with the B.R.U.T.E?
B.R.U.T.E.’s were added to Season 10 and at first the idea of the mechs seemed fun but ever since the Fortnite community has made its frustrations known with how overpowered and unfair the B.R.U.T.E truly is and with Fortnite’s latest patch, we see some changes to the mech but it is still in the game.
The patch notes were heavily influenced on the B.R.U.T.E and its gameplay and here are the changes that came with the patch that will change how to mech operates.
- Added a targeting laser that appears while players load and fire missiles, which will identify where the B.R.U.T.E’s rockets will be shooting to show enemy players just where the rockets will be
- Visual and audio fixes to the self-destruct sequence
- B.R.U.T.E.’s can now be entered while a player is gliding
- B.R.U.T.E’s abandoned in the storm will self-destruct after 30 seconds
- B.R.U.T.E spawn rates have changed(see our patch story for more information)
Some bugs regarding the B.R.U.T.E were also fixed, one being the ability to make it invisible and another fixing just how fast the B.R.U.T.E can traverse the map.
Of course the B.R.U.T.E still being in the game has made some in the community very upset and here are some reactions. **NSFW**
Of course the community has tons to be upset about and rightfully so. These changes to the B.R.U.T.E. don’t do much to change the problem because even one or two mechs in one game can cause absolute chaos and rage for those who don’t have it and honestly Fortnite may have just made the community even more upset by trying to justify and fix the mech.
By downing the spawn rate, you are just making them more hard to attain and if there are so little mechs in the game, there will be no way to stop them unless you have a Boogie Bomb and even then it will be difficult.
The B.R.U.T.E just needs to be vaulted like other overpowered weapons and items from Fortnite past. The sword had its issues and now the B.R.U.T.E has even more and Epic Games needs to do the right thing and vault the B.R.U.T.E because there is truly nothing you can do to fix it.
