Fortnite Battle Royale: Epic Games employee announces Season 4 extension
By Drew Conover
It’s official. Season 4 of Fortnite will wrap on July 12th, bringing the highly anticipated Season 5 on the same day. Fortnite is giving you all the means necessary to finish up those challenges, so get to work!
Epic Games employee Sean Hamilton announced on Reddit that starting on the weekend of June 29th through July 2nd Fortnite will be offering a 100% increase to all XP earned and adding an extension to Season 4.
This is the first of its kind for the game, and gives players an opportunity to rake in all the XP they can before Season 4 comes to a close. This double XP weekend is the best chance for players who have yet to max out their Omega or Carbide skins.
In the same post, Sean, or MrPopoTFS also gave the official end date for Season 4 and the official start date for Season 5. Through the announcement Sean stated “We (Epic) are giving you two more days to complete Season 4!” This is likely a result of the challenges being bumped from Tuesdays to Thursdays earlier this season. Here is the full Reddit post:
Season 4 now comes to a close on July 12th at 4 AM EDT with Season 5 starting immediately after. The two-day extension gives players all the incentive to push through and grind out those challenges to unlock the blockbuster rewards.
With two additional days and a weekend full of double XP, players have no excuse to miss out on any of their battle pass rewards. With Season 5 getting closer and each new rotation in the item shop there is little time to waste. Once the new season is here old challenges become a thing of the past.
If not now, then when? Epic has given us all the tools we need to unlock that purple light Omega or finish those challenges for blockbuster rewards before the season wraps up.

No official announcements have been made from Epic Games regarding Season 5’s content, although the recent decision to emphasize the start date on the game’s Reddit page is more than likely the first step of Season 5’s roll-out.
Over the next two weeks, you can expect Epic to slowly drop bits and pieces of what to expect, similar to how they teased the super heroes before Season 4 began.
