Fortnite players are expressing significant dissatisfaction with the current meta in Chapter 5, Season 3, and the decreased XP, making Battle Pass progression more challenging.

As the Myths and Mortals season concluded, Fortnite teased Chapter 5, Season 3 with exciting previews. Fallout Collab skins, Wasteland currency references, and other leaked skins set high expectations, generating excitement among the player base. However, the initial excitement quickly waned as the player count plummeted on the first day of the season.

Feedback from the community highlights the new meta as a primary reason for the decline in player engagement. The introduction of Nitro Cars, Vehicle Mods, and other items disrupted the game balance, leading many players to step away. Despite balance adjustments to nerf cars and add counter items, the meta remains unpopular, with players describing the season as “stale” due to these changes and the XP nerf.

A Reddit thread discussing the falling player count revealed widespread frustration. Players find this season to be a “chore” and “grindy.” One user commented, “Chapter 5 was just mid in my opinion. The map isn’t the greatest, the loot pool hasn’t been it, projectile weapons, the mods… [and] now this season has just been nothing but frustrating with the cars [and] the fists.”

Another player noted the lack of excitement due to the reduced loot pool and the absence of weekly unvaults. The combination of unpopular projectile weapons, movement issues, and UI updates has compounded the frustration. Additionally, performance problems have alienated players with low-end PCs, further decreasing enjoyment.

Beyond the vehicle meta, the XP nerf is a major concern. Players find it harder to level up their Battle Pass unless they continuously play other game modes beyond Battle Royale and Zero Build. One player remarked, “The XP nerf has been killing it lately for me. What I need to do BR, Rocket Racing, Lego, [and more].”

Weekly quests, previously worth 25,000 XP, now offer only 10,000 XP, frustrating many players. While some believe this change aims to encourage engagement with various game modes, it’s clear that not everyone appreciates the shift. Although it's uncertain if Epic Games will rework XP rewards, players can currently explore Fortnite XP maps for additional Battle Pass boosts.
