There seems to be a Pirates of the Caribbean Easter Egg in Fortnite

Could there be a Pirates of the Caribbean crossover coming to Fortnite?

The Reality Tree has made Fortnite a mess. At first, it was cool that it was altering some places in the game, but now it’s the gimmick of the season and it seems like every tiny town and major building in the game will be affected by it at some point.

A big one is going to be the Daily Bugle, which is set to get its own alteration once the roots of the Reality Tree reach that area of the island. This wouldn’t be so bad if it was limited and didn’t just repeat the same alterations to every POI (point of interest), but it doesn’t and it makes the gimmick less enjoyable the more it’s used.

It doesn’t help that every area just rotates between a few themes, like pirate, Roman, and western.

Yet, if you go to Logjam Lotus when the POI is in its pirate theme, you’ll see a subtle reference to the Disney film franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean. Normally, I dismiss the claims of allusions to nothing more than a coincidence, yet this POI adding a tiny boat, with tattered sails and a bucket is too on the nose not to be a reference to the debut of Jack Sparrow in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film from 2003.

This seems like a viable Pirates of the Caribbean homage but could it mean more?

Fans of the film franchise should remember that Jack Sparrow made his debut in a tiny boat that was sinking, and it ended up being swallowed by the sea, allowing him to step on the dock just as the boat was almost fully submerged.

So clearly it’s a reference to the film, but is it a sign of something more? More than likely not, as Johnny Depp, who played Jack Sparrow, is not attached to the sixth film in the franchise that is in pre-production.

It wouldn’t make much sense to use his debut in the franchise as a hint at a future collaboration with the sixth film and it would be curious for them to just do a collab with the brand that references or brings in the character, now that Depp and Sparrow are controversially no longer part of the franchise.
