Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 may be called “Flipped”, but you could easily call it “Food”. Pizza Party boxes are yet another brand new healing item. They offer powerful healing, but how does it stack up to other curatives? Are there too many healing items this season? Let’s take a closer look at the Pizza Party’s place in the game.

Fortnite adds another healing item with Pizza: Is it too much?

Pizza Party boxes can be found everywhere fine loot is found: in Chests, Supply Drops, Llama, on the floor and from Tomatohead himself. When thrown, the box opens to reveal eight slices of Slurpshroom Pizza that you or anyone else can eat. You just have to eat one slice and you’ll be healed to 100 Health and 50 Shield. You can’t heal past this.

There are a few team based healing items already in Chapter 3 Season 1. Chug Splash is a classic that restores 20 health/shields to everyone in its splash radius. Shield Kegs only restore Shields and serve more like a Shield-type campfire than an in-field curative.

It’s hard to find a second to patch yourself up in the middle of a firefight. Chug Splash and the Shield Keg also mark your location, as the big blue splash is kind of hard to miss. That’s where consumables like Klomberries and even the new Pizza Party box comes in handy.

I think consumables are underrated. They’re faster to use than Shield Potions or Med Kits, but they heal for less per item stack. Pizza may be one of the best consumables yet, giving the convenience of a consumable with massive healing. Eating just one slice can heal you up to 150 health/shields; very useful if you’re camping or pinned.

Once you chomp down on a slice, you’ll start healing and then can focus on fighting. It reminds me of the Slurp Fish, which restores 75 health/shields in just a fraction of a second.

With so many powerful healing options, I can see the game slowing down especially in the later circles. Fortnite’s been trying to get more anti-build options into the game, but these big healing items on the surface seem to do the opposite.

I’ve seen enemies slam Chug Splashes in Sniper fights, and it can feel like you’re fighting a boss with multiple health bars some time. The strategy to counter this is to pack more healing items yourself. Having a dedicated slot to hold a healing item is already good practice in later circles, and more options like Pizza can enable different strategies for different play styles.
