The FanSided 250 ranked Fortnite 6th in gaming. Should Fortnite have been further up on the list or is the ranking justified?

As previously reported, we are still excited by the news that Fortnite ranked number 120 on the FanSided 250 list. It has been a tremendous year for Fortnite fans as they have been continuously proving stellar content. The Marvel theme of Season Five brought back many OG players of the game and interested new fans to see what the hype was all about.

This year has provided many groundbreaking changing changes to the game. In this year alone, we have seen fishing and cars be added to the game that will forever change the game of Fortnite. We all know that the game of Fortnite will always be changing with the times. This season saw the introduction of sand-tunneling, bounties, and gold bars among other additions.

We are hoping that Fortnite will have another great year in 2021. While we are satisfied with the placement, we would love to see Fortnite become the number one game in the next FanSided 250. However, we are here to talk about this year. Fortnite ranked 6th in gaming and 120th overall on the list. Here are three reasons why Fortnite ranked where it did.

3. The Joy Ride Update

Fortnite players rejoiced when the Joy Ride upgrade was added to the game allowing players to drive vehicles for the first time. We had driven boats, carts, and mechs but now we were finally behind the wheel of actual cars, trucks, and more. You can now get around the map in record time, especially if you are behind the wheel of a Whiplash, the fastest car in the game.

You can also use these vehicles as a way to attack an enemy. It is pretty satisfying to hit another player with a car sending them flying across the map to their potential doom. Fortnite has done a great job with vehicles. They haven’t been overpowered and are limited to a tank of gas and can be blown up after taking enough damage.

However, people are loading up on gas cans and pushing vehicles to the limit. It is thrilling to be running from the storm in a car that is slowly running out of gas. I don’t see vehicles being vaulted from the game. They have become a fan favorite and I expect they will be around for a long time to come.

2. Fishing Changes The Game

The ability to fish was first introduced at the beginning of Season 2. Along with swimming, fishing changed the way you played the game quickly. You now had a new way to gain health, shield, and weapons instead of just searching for chests. Fishing was a fun inclusion to the game but it would really take off in a new way in Season Four.

The pro-fishing rod was introduced along with multiple new fish and styles. Players were on the mission to catch them all and complete their entire collection like this was Pokemon. The rarest two fish last season were the Midas flopper and the Vendetta flopper. Both had a 1% spawn rate and were nearly impossible to track down.

The Midas flopper had the ability to turn all of your items legendary that was able to be. The Vendetta flopper gave you the ability to see the nearest enemy on the map. As of Season Five, new fish like the Zero Point and Rift floppers have been added. With the inclusion of fishing, the game will never be like it was before it.

3. Marvel Meets Fortnite

It is hard to argue that Season Four was some of the most fun ever had in Fortnite. During the season, different Marvel bosses, like Iron Man, Doctor Doom, and Wolverine, were added to the map with mystic abilities. And trust me when I say that fighting these bosses was no walk in the park. Especially, Wolverine who was able to heal up nearly faster than you can kill him.

With the inclusion of the bosses came the stark robots and more special Marvel abilities. If you went to one of the stark jet locations, you were able to fight off stark robots and hack them to working for you if you pleased. Overheard, drones were able to be shot down carrying rare weapons and more mystic abilities including the powers of Storm, Venom, Groot, and more.

Multiple new game modes were also added throughout the season to be played. Marvel Knockout and Marvel Takeover forced players to use their superhero abilities to fight against each other for dominance or control of a base. While many people raged at Wolverine’s claws and Iron Man’s blasters, we miss them now that they are all gone.

There is much left to do with the mixture of the Marvel and Fortnite universes. We can only hope that we see more of Marvel in the future.
