Fortnite Rightfully Ranks High On FanSided 250
Fortnite has continued to be a fan favorite since the inception of battle royale. This past year has been one of the most enjoyable yet.
FanSided has just released their FanSided 250 ranking the top 250 fandoms of the year. This year Fortnite ranked number 120 overall and ranked 6th in gaming. While Fortnite fans will say the game deserved to be ranked higher, we here at Forever Fortnite are happy to see Fortnite get the recognition. It has been a completely different game experience this year.
At the end of 2019, the world of Fortnite was still in the aftershock of The End event. The old map was sucked up through a black hole and replaced with a brand new map. Chapter One was officially ended and Chapter Two was taking off in a major fashion. We saw fishing, swimming, and later cars into the world. Later in December, we saw one of the best Winterfest seasons to date. The most exciting part was arguably the inclusion of Star Wars in Fortnite.
Having a lightsaber was one of the best experiences that I have had playing in the game. However, on the other side of the blade, they were one of the worst experiences I have ever had. In Season 2, Fornite introduced us to the agency season. You were tasked for the first time to pick a side: Ghost or Shadow. This season included a completely customizable skin, Maya, and the introduction of Meowscles, Agent Peely, and more.
The Agency, The Yacht, The Rig, and The Shark quickly became the favorite places to land in season two. As of season five, the remains of the shark is all that remains from the season. Season Three arrived with its own bag of tricks soon after “The Device” led to the destruction of The Agency. In Season Three, Aqua Man joined the Fortnite world as did the ability to ride around on sharks and drive cars.
And most importantly, Kit, the cutest kitten on a big motorcycle arrived. The most recent season to finish was personally my favorite of the year. Season Four was all about Marvel and the looming threat of Galactus. The inclusion of Stark Robots and Marvel bosses scattered around the map was a fun time. The Marvel mystic abilities were all fun to use unless you were the one being attacked by Wolverine’s claws or Iron Man’s blasters.
It is a bitter feeling now that Doom’s Domain and Stark Industries have been erased and replaced with new and returning areas. We will miss the Marvel inclusions but the new season has been treating players right thus far. Although, we are all hoping that we will see more of Marvel in Fornite in the future.
Although we are ending off the year with Season Five, and it has already off to a great start. This season is all about the bounty. It has already seen the inclusion of legendary skins like The Mandolorian and Kratos to name a few. With Winterfest growing near, we should end the year on a high note. Perhaps Fortnite can fight back and be the number one game fandom in 2021.
