Fortnite Season Five is the ultimate test for Bounty Hunters
After the defeat of Galactus put an end to Season Four, we have found ourselves surrounded by bounty hunters in Season Five of Fortnite.
It a brand new season in Fortnite and it is already setting out to be exciting as ever! Like Thor in the season before, Season Five was led into action by The Mandalorian as the first unlockable character in the battle pass. He is only one of the multiple characters to unlock this season. It was revealed that the best hunters “from all realities” were transported to the island by Jonesy. Since then characters like Kratos and Joker have been released.
The main mission is to deal with the exposed “zero point” that stands in the ruins of well… The Ruins. However, this season is clearly about much more than the zero point. This season is all about going for the bounty, which what did you expect when gathering the best hunters. The goal is to collect as much gold as possible that can be used for unique upgrades and treats.
The way to get your treats is unlike any other season before. Now, characters have been scattered throughout the map to interact with. There is even a nice character collection card to keep track of everyone you have interacted with. You can gain quests, weapons, bounties, or even duel or recruit the character you interact with. It seems that these characters have replaced the upgrade bench, at least for the time being.
One of the most exciting aspects of the new season is also one of the most frightening. Players are now able to pick up bounties on other players to hunt them down. On the mini-map, a yellow circle will appear showing the area that your target is located. While it can be infuriating to be tracked down and mauled down, I believe this is a way to bring out the best in every player.
You are going to have to know how to build to be able to survive when a great builder comes targeting you. Things are even more frightening knowing that The Mandalorian lurks the map wielding an unlimited jetpack and his signature Amban sniper rifle. You can also find Ruckus at Hyro 16 wielding a legendary heavy assault rifle and an epic rocket launcher.
It is safe to say that you are best to get these weapons before your opponents have the opportunity. Besides the new playable characters, there were significant changes made to the Fortnite map in the aftermath of Galactus. All of the Marvel landmarks have vanished and the remains look like a wasteland.
Where Stark Industries once stood tall now is a desert land including Colossal Coliseum and Salty Spring. Directly south leads you into Hunter’s Haven, where you will find Mancake’s maple syrup stash. Going north leads you to the returning Pleasant Park and even further north leads to the Jurassic Park-esque Stealthy Stronghold, a gated jungle in the middle of nowhere. This has become possibly my favorite new location to visit.
As the season progresses, we should all expect changes to the map as we go along. More bosses will be added to the game to join Mando and Ruckus in the near future. This is going to be an action-packed, exciting season of Fortnite. Enjoy the ride!
