Are console Fortnite players better than PC players?

The Fortnite Battle Royale Solo Showdown has now concluded and some fans on Twitter made an interesting discovery. Many are starting to argue that console players are better than PC players. Is this true?
This will upset many of you fans out there, but after some research was done by Twitter users, it was discovered that 46 of the top 50 Solo Showdown players came from console, leading some to believe that the quality of play on the console is higher than that on PC.

The responses to this tweet ranged greatly from fans claiming that this showed console players were clearly better, to PC players saying that this proves that players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are clearly inferior, to console players claiming that the better finishers on console use a mouse and keyboard.
After the dust settled from the extensive bickering, some of the bigger content creators weighed in. The face of Twitch and Fortnite streaming, Ninja, had this to say of the news and how Epic Games should handle competitive rankings moving forward.
I play primarily on the Xbox One and the PS4. I have dabbled playing on the PC but for only 20-ish games. I can say with the utmost certainty that the player base and skill gap on the computer is completely different than on console.
While Epic wants to give equal opportunity to players on the console and the PC despite the core game and the way in which players play on the different systems being totally different, they can’t keep doing this.
The average player on PlayStation is not as good as the average player on the Xbox in my opinion. I average between four or five kills on Xbox in a win, but on PS4, I can get close to 10 if I’m really playing well.
The average player on the PC is better than the average player on any console. The building is more intricate, the aiming needs to be more precise, and the movement of the character is totally different with no analog sticks.
The developers need to start making different leaderboards based on the device a player is using. A mobile leaderboard, an Xbox leaderboard, a PC leaderboard, etc.

So, console players are not the best at the game, and despite PC players believing they are far and away superior to everyone else, they aren’t. This is a stupid argument to have in the first place! Let’s just do our best to have fun and win some games. It doesn’t all have to be competitive.
